ABOUT US

Picture

Spartan Stoneworks offers beautiful natural stone surfaces for residences. We specialize in kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, fireplaces, windowsills, table tops, outdoor grills, islands and raised bars, and our extensive list of stone materials includes granite, marble, quartzite and quartz from Cambria, Caesarstone, Pompey, Metroquartz, Spectrum, MSI, and Vadara.

What distinguishes us from the other countertop companies in town? Two things. First, our commitment. We don't send subcontracted crews to your home - our owners do the work on every single job. We take it personally. We are engaged and involved personally in every step of the process.

Second, Community service and commitment to others. We sponsor little league and youth soccer teams. We offer 10% discounts to Leon County medical staff, first responders, teachers, and veterans. We volunteer at community events and have donated to silent auctions for Second Harvest and other charitable organizations, and when Christmas time comes, we are Elder Elves, supplying gifts for the elderly who might otherwise be alone or overlooked. We love and are an active part of the neighborhoods we serve.  We don't hire sub-contractors and we answer questions and phone calls on weekends, evenings and even on holidays because we know your time is valuable and, often, limited too.  We are here to help and serve you and are grateful for the opportunity.

Natural Stone Institute of America Members since 2017

There are, at any given time, at least twelve stone countertop fabricators in Leon County.  Only one of these belongs to the Natural Stone Institute of America. That's Spartan Stoneworks. At Spartan we fervently believe in the necessity for continued education and training in the use and application of natural stone surfaces, and belonging to this 130-year-old professional organization is something we are very proud of. With more than 2000 members in 50 countries, Natural Stone Institute establishes the benchmarks and best practices for every facet of our industry.

We participate in NSI regional training summits, online university programs, and  strictly follow the guidelines established by NSI to ensure the best and safest fabrication and installation of one-of-a-kind stone countertops. We are actively involved in the Women in Stone mentoring program, which provides mentorship, support and development for women working in every facet of the natural stone industry around the world.

Visit the Natural Stone Institute website, read about the amazing work these experts do, and then use the locator to find NSI members in this area. See that single green dot over Tallahassee?  That's Spartan Stoneworks! We rock!

Better Trained, Better Prepared.

There is no school that teaches students how to cut countertops. There is no licensing board that oversees and certifies countertop fabricators and installers. The people who cut countertops learn these skills on the job, and their abilities are directly determined by the quality of training they receive from the company that hires them.

Fernando Segura worked for ten years at a Natural Stone Institute Accredited company right here in the panhandle. Accreditation is a five-year process strictly overseen by the organization and limited to the best of the best in industry safety, best practices, and customer service. In the state of Florida, only six companies have risen to that level of achievement. One of those companies, Florida Bath & Surfaces, hired Fernando, trained him in fabrication and installation, and promoted him to crew supervisor, where he was also expected to train new crew members.  He spent a decade training and working for the best of the best.

When he moved to Tallahassee, Florida Bath & Surfaces maintained their relationship with him and hired him to complete dozens of installations in Tallahassee until he ultimately opened Spartan Stoneworks. The level of training and the skills he developed working for this exceptional company are the same ones he applies on every project today. Thanks to their high expectations and commitment to excellence, Fernando is one of the best in the business and continues to hone his skills through NSI.

What are the Steps to Getting New Countertops?
*Installed on average 7 days from date of purchase *

1. Call or come on in and talk with us. We'll want to know about your needs and wants! At this point, it's all about finding what works best for you: color, material and style. No need to have an exact plan yet - this step involves asking us lots of questions and narrowing down the possibilities. We'll share with you all the choices you have and see which ones appeal to you the most.

2. We'll schedule a time to come take measurements. The process takes about 20 to 30 minutes and does not require any special preparation. We measure to determine the square footage of your countertops so that we know how much stone you're going to need.

3. We provide you with an estimate based on those measurements. Our estimate at this point will be for cutting, fabricating and installing your new tops! It will not include the cost of the stone unless you have already made that choice.

4. Choose and purchase your stone. At this point, we will offer you a contract and provide you with a packet of information including a tentative schedule for the remaining steps. The stone will be purchased separately and we ask for a deposit of 75% of our previous estimate at this time.  Please, please, please read our client packet!! This is full of important stuff!

5. We schedule an appointment for making a template. This takes about 45 minutes and countertops will need to be cleared in order to ensure accuracy.

6. Your chosen stone goes into fabrication! We lay out the template and cut and polish each piece.

7. We call you when fabrication is complete and schedule your installation date. This will typically be within the next two days, but we will schedule based on what is convenient for you, of course!

8. Installation day! We will remove your existing countertops and install your new countertops in one day. Actual installation times vary, but an average kitchen will take approximately five to six hours.  This process may take longer if we are removing tile countertops or backsplash or if the existing cabinets have poor support for the stone - those adjustments will need to be made on-site and are difficult to predict.

9. We will return the following day or at your convenience to apply sealer to granite. Quartz tops do not require sealing, so this step is unnecessary. Natural stone tops should be treated with Dry Treat, a 25-year sealer that comes with a written warranty.  Applying this sealer takes roughly 30 minutes, after which countertops are entirely usable and safe. The sealer in many cases should be applied on the day of installation. In some cases, depending on the porosity of the natural stone, we may recommend waiting 24 hours until the stone is completely dry and the caulk has had a chance to set.

10. Final payment is due  AT the installation and can take the form of either a personal check, a business check or a credit card payment via phone call to our office. Your receipt will be emailed to you, and you'll also receive a phone call from us a day or two after the installation to make sure you're thoroughly pleased with our work.
